Cowboy and Octopus by Jon Scieszka

This book cracked me up.  It dares ask that question that the greatest minds from Plato to Hawking have all pondered: What if a cowboy met an octopus?  They would be best of friends, of course.  The humor is kind of corny, while being extremely creative at the same time.  For example, after the cowboy and the octopus become friends, they shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands, and shake hands.  Get it?  Cowboy and Octopus consists of seven very short stories that have this kind of delightful humor.  All ages of elementary students can appreciate this book.  Very young kids will love it for the illustrations and the short stories, while upper elementary kids will hopefully appreciate the humor as I did.
